Hi Guys , haven’t posted on here in years but thought I’d add some photos of how I made a heat tile.

I used to always use heat lights, but after reading Bluetongue1 (a memeber on this site) idea on how to make a heat tile, i took some of his ideas and made a few of them.

Smaller tile :

-300 x 300 melamine

-300 x 300 ceramic tile

-15w reptileone 2m heat cord

Large tile:

-400 x 400 melamine

-400 x 400 ceramic tile

-25w 4.5m heat cord

I noticed Reptileone heat cords are definitely quite a bit thicker then the grey URS style ones , and it states on their instructions to have 50mm spacing , I went with 40mm and it heats up to around 40deg unregulated. Obviously I recommend using a thermostat set at your desired temperature.

After routing the melamine (using 8mm straight router bit) , I then ironed on melamine edging to seal the sides.

So tile can be removable it is held down with small dabs of blu tac in each corner.
