Hi, just wanted to check that its normal for a childrens python (1st snake) to stop eating, its been about 3 weeks since he stopped eating, im assuming its from the cold. i turned the heat up too 33.
Thanks

Most snakes will stop feeding or slow down feeding in the cooler months of the year.

The snake should of had a hot spot of 32-34 as normal heating! The reason as Dickyknee has pointed out is it is cold and if your temps were lower than optimum in the first place the snake will pick up on this and react accordingly.

Depending on the age of the snake most Antaresia go into breeding mode early in the season, if it's a boy it will be off food and thinking about girls

the heat was set for 32,but sat at around 30.

Where a lot dont quite understand is that your heat reading are done when you are around see
them. the pinch point is the early hours of the morning from about 3am onward. it is at this point where your temp drops are the most dramatic and this is what causes most problems as most heat sources are not set correctly enough to negate the severity of the drop.

did not think about that ill set a alarm and have a look tonight thanks :)

Just buy a thermometer which records max / min temps and you won't need to leave your doona.
