double enclosure heating??

ive got a fish tank thats bout 4ftx1ftx2ft
i am planning on simply putting a piece of perspex down the middle to create two 2ft enclosures
on one side i want to have a pair of Northern Spotted Velvet Gecko and on the other side a pair of pygmy bearded dragons
I was wondering the best form of heating, A heating cable, a heat mat in the centre of the tank or 2 seperate heating lamps?

Heat lamp would be beat for the beardies, mats can burn them.

Not sure bout the gex though..
