Feeding rats

Hey all. I got the advice to try and switch my snakes to rats as soon as possible. Rats are a more complete meal so I was told. They all made the change fine except for my 10 month old diamond. He has always been a bit of a fussy eater so does anyone have any tricks to get him to change to rats? Thanks. dan

Try scenting the rat with a mouse.

The advice you were given was correct, rats are a better meal.
The method I used to switch a mouse eater to rats (it was a juvie jungle) was to feed a pinkie mouse and when it was almost through getting the mouse into it's mouth I placed a rat pinkie at the edge of the snake's mouth so it just kept eating asthough the prey item was longer. Make sense?
The snake took rats from then on :wink:
