hehe sumb silly man who got in the cage with him and then jumped out and screamed like a little girl after he got the shot!! lol ;) ;)

nah sorry mate that was all he would let us take of him then he ran to his hidebox and he didnt need to be disturbed as we had seen him and also we didnt want tim to get hurt lol

They are an awesome monitor and I would certainly love to have one if I had the room. They are quite expensive though and I wouldn't imagine there would be a huge market for them due to their huge size. Let alone feeding and heating bills.

No that honour would have to go to the Emerald Monitor (Varanus prasinus). I am not aware of any of these in captivity in Australia:

are they like the GTP of the monitor world?

Check out that long prehensile tail:

Outside of Australia however there seem to be quite a few about judging by the info available on the net:

wow! Are we able to keep them here in Australia?

How big do those perenties grow?

perenties are in the top four largest lizards in the world the 1st being the komodo dragon then im unsure i think the 3 contenders that get around the same size are the asian water monitor, croc monitor (native to PNG) and the perenty

my money would be on the croc monitor being 2end with the perenty 3erd and the azn water monitor 4th.. but i dunno anything about azn water monitors

is this perenty thats for sale origionaly a wc adult?? if i ever got the space to keep one <omg id cream myself> i would want hatchlings to start with on the same principle as scrubs..... a pissed off adult bent on ripping your arms off when u need to handle them is quiet difficult :p

lol!!! I'm betting that this is on the class 2 licence for NSW. Which is probably a good thing, otherwise my husband would be buying it tomorrow.

Now your talking Herptrader......very nice; i remember them as a kid....awesome :).....thanks for the links.
The perentie, is beautiful, however i personaly feel it's one to see in the wild.....large home range and all.....bad enough keeping lace monitors i guess; have to admitt, i'd make room if i really had to  :)
