Gecko's in Darwin

A mate of mine has just got home from working in Darwin and he was say that he had gecko's running around his room. He also said that they were making weired noises.
I know that is is common for gecko's to be running around houses but I was wondering if any here would be able to tell me what kind it may have been.

I'm guessing that there are quite a few different types running around darwin - do many of them make noises

There are a variety of geckoes that they may of been, though probably either Gehyra australis, or Hemidactylus frenatus (asian house gecko), as both are common in dwellings. All Geckos and Pygopods (legless lizards) have voices and can call.
