when for my own little bushwalk/mini mountain climb today at bobin head, and saw a nice little heath monitor( or a lacie, but pretty sure it was a heath monitor) - actually, it was quite big lol
was eating this plant and saw me and than ran away up these rocks :(
wish i had the camera
he was pretty cool, moved like a goanna and kept sticking his tongue out like a snake.

i learnt heaps of stuff from seeing about 10 seconds of a heath monitor:D
- they have blue tongues
- quite large
- arboreal
- omnivourous
- move like goannas
- theyre awesome:D

If it was definitely eating a plant it wasn't a monitor. They are strictly meat eaters.

Eating a plant? that is unusual are you sure it wasnt eating something in or near the plant?

I have heard of them eating non meat food stolen from ppl but never heard of it happening in the wild.

Cant argue with them being awesome though :D

oh, well it was sticking its head around there or something, probably turning around because it was definatley either a heath monitor or a lacie.

Did it look like this ?
