Freaks me out how much these guys look like Pseudonaja textilis...

ELAPID SNAKE Family ELAPIDAE VENOMOUS BUT NOT REGARDED AS DANGEROUS Description: This snake is very small and slender with a red-orange blotch on it's neck. It's head and neck is glossy black, totally enclosing the red neck blotch. The body is reddish-brown with dark edged scales giving the snake a reticulated appearance. Size: Adults 35 - 45 cm Behaviour: Nocturnal. Not inclined to bite. Prey: Mainly small skinks Reproduction: Females lay up to 5 eggs in a clutch.
 
IMO a very safe snake

I have encountered a couple in my time and have found it amusing that they imitate brown snakes but if you are slow enough they "bite" you with their mouth closed.

Don't take this as a certainty because I have had a small eyed snake do this to me also, but you would ahve to be unlucky to get bitten.
