Hello, I was hoping someone could enlighten me on the best lace monitor substrate. I have kept other monitors but never from hatchy size, it was usually the result of someone being unable to care for them as a adult. Do lacies have a tendency to ingest their substrate while feeding? I wanted to avoid handling as much as possible, so im not sure if feeding in a separate enclosure using newspaper is a adequate option.

cheers

I use coir peat for mine and have no issues with ingesting substrate. I use a feeding bowl as well though so the mice aren't actually in contact with it (except for the times he drags it around the enclosure). Crocdoc, who is pretty much the Lacey man, suggests leaf litter as another option as well. Just make sure it is nice and deep so it holds humidity and they can burrow into it if they want to
