Skittles my Mac has been changing his behaviours lately and been really curious when I have reached into his tank to test temps, freshen up water or set up his plants etc. He cruises over regardless of where he has been hiding so I thought he must be pretty ok with stuff.

I reached in this afternoon and because of the amount of stuff he can grab hold of I quickly grabbed him about half way down. I couldn't look as quick as he spun around and latched onto the top of my finger. His little needle teeth didn't hurt but he did manage to draw a drop of blood but a quick dab with a tissue and it was over with. I have to admit I didn't even flinch for two reasons, it was that quick he was latched on before I could and because I was concentrating on not letting him go so I could have him out for some socialising. I guess it happened because I got complacent and I surprised him. :)

It's only a yearling Mac so the pic isn't worth the effort, after I wiped the 'drop' of blood away you can barely make out the pin prick marks. Those diabetes blood testers they use when you give blood leave a bigger mark. It just made me chuckle after all the paranoid posts by new snake owners who are scared of their hatchlings grabbing a hold.

I was hoping he would hang on long enough to get a pic, as he had me like a mouse by the head except it was my middle finger tip, but once I had him mostly clear of the tank he let go and was then quite happy to be handled. I thought he was going to give me a second nip as a rebuke when I tried to put him back and he wanted to stay out.
