Melamine

Im looking at using melamine for a hood above my turtle tank, I just wanted to know if it will be safe with the possible humidity? All edges will be covered and corners siliconed?

As long as it is veeeeerrry well sealed yes. But i would suggest using painted marine ply. Even better, buy a ready made hood and you wont have to worry

If water gets into your melamine it will begin to swell and lose its strength and rigidity.
