Thanks guys, yeh I paniced as I have fallen for the name thing recently. Not so much with what they say but just the spelling. So there are two dragon lady's one with and with out a hyphen. And true cloneing as taking the exact spelling of a profile--or even the exact profile, thats possible:shock::shock::shock:

All said I understand your point about slight variances in names because I always assume when I see a name I know it is that person, never even considered the hyphen thing. Oh and I have met MissLlamathuen in person and she is a very likeable person, and your right these forums can be deceptive.

i mean its pretty sick that they go to the effort to search for us on face book and make threads about us and make whole accounts just to pretend to be us

i dont think u should be asking mods about it because its not easy for them to stop these sorts of people, they try there best to help and suspend them etc but its impossible for them to stop them for good. i think u should be talking to the police about it ip numbers are so easy to get, u would be surprised what they can get up on computers....

its harassment and internet harassment doesnt get looked on lightly these days.

the mods and administrator do do a good job at looking after the site and suspending nasty pastys

but if it does get worse and threats etc are made i think u might aswel talk to the police beacuse its gone outside of aps now not just on here

You have got to be kidding me, can you not see that the people doing this are taking the piss out of you and your friends because all you lot do is make stupid threads, and you are proving this time and time again with the endless stupid posts and threads.

Maybe if you lot grew up and acted your age and treated this as a Reptile forum rather then Myspace you wouldn't have this issue... you don't see the people who talk about reptiles and engage in serious topics get targeted... but where as you and your friends flooding of the forums is what triggers this type of 'attack' (for lack of a better word).

Anyone who joins this forum has the right to join with the username they desire UNLESS it is already taken or it is beaching forum rules... it's as simple as that.

Is there really any need to take anything further than the posts/threads of APS. People can get screwed up easily, and if that doesnt burn your conscience, then sometimes they can end up screwing with you if your the one pushing their buttons.

What is APS about anyway? People post stuff and some one cuts them down for not researching or because it has been done before. APS is live and dynamic and that is why they come here, to talk to people who are doing what they're doing and not just reading some book or webpage that has been copied from another one for financial gain.

Why don't all the naysayers start their own forum so that those who want to be harrassed can post their stupid comment and their personal details and then sit back and wait for the abuse. All this crap about what APS supposidly is not which I don't remember reading in the sites information, but I do remember something about tollerance for the wide variety of ages and experiances. Intollerance is a cancer, it will eat away at the individual and it is destroying our world.

im unsure about the security of this forum but i would say it has a ip log
basicly look into the ip log of the fake account an match it with a current member's ip address on the forum.

like matching up finger prints.

personlly im quite amused that someone would be stupid enough to do this with out thinking that their ip is not being recorded.

an if your hiding behind a router an your ip address gets banned you cant just move to another workstation in the house or internet cafe or network your on

once your public ip has been banned then all the privatly leased ones sitting behind the DHCP have gone as well.

in my view this behaviour is childish an should be delt with.

maybe a name an shame would be acceptable.

I come on APS to make mates with people who share similar interests, and to get help from those people if they know alot about the reps I'm interested in!
APS to me is a reptile lovers community, not just a search engine, not just a herp forum. And socialising promotes unity within the community!
APS doesn't have to be myspace, but all my freinds who are interested in reptiles I've met straight off APS.


Further to that, trollers and clones disrupt the forums, turning it mean and nasty while belittling people. This is not about personal egos, but about the effect of trolling and bullying on the community and measures we can put in place to stop that.
