Hi,

This is a monitor I saw today on the JCU Cairns campus. He or she was wandering through the undergrowth in a patch of bush, then startled a few students as he crossed a footpath to reach another patch of bush.

Another relevant point: he was shedding on the top half of his body. You might be able to see the skin lifting off slightly back from his front legs.

I apologise for the photo - all I had was my phone - but can anyone identify him regardless?

Thanks,
Ren

Cool, thanks. I've seen a big monitor that was unmistakably a lacey a couple of kilometres away, but wasn't quite sure about this one.

I realise it's hard to tell the age of wild animals, but roughly how old do people think this one is?
