At wat age does your bearded dragon have to be before they start on pinkies my male is 6months?

i gave my 8 month old male machine a velvet mouse the other day.. he loved it.. it fit between his eyes and i only would give him one here and there as a treat but it was all fine.. 6 months seems a little young
