if i'd known you'd all like these, i would have recorded and taken photos of a lot more that i have done. i'll remember this from now on.

Thats how they rediscovered that small specie of blue tongue that was thought to be extinct. in the belly of a dissected snake. Ive skinned dead snakes before but its a messy job.

a vet tech is firstly someone who has completed a bachelor of applied science specialising in veterinary technology. a relatively new degree. we are trained in many areas, so basically, we monitor anaesthetics, perform and develop xrays, take bloods and test them. we do treatments eg, injections, catheterisations, fluid therapy and the likes. we assist the vet in any way they need, we perform dentals, and we also do reception and cleaning. it is very similar to a cert 4 nurse we do get taught a lot of theory due to it being a tertiary course. i enjoyed the course a lot.

ps. luke if you have anythign more to add feel free.

i think you covered most things their, and i have to agree it is a fantastic course

very good post helikaon, if you have the time maybe you could label some of the internal organs for our younger members or others that would be interested :D. once again great post.

Good to see you did this autopsy.

Again worms in a reptile, i think reptiles need to be wormed as much as cats and dogs.

Sad to see the blue tongue was pregnant.

i dont think so, honestly so far the only reptiles that ive done post postmortems on to find worms have been wild like the water dragon in the above posts. i have lizards in outdoor pits, these guys eat anythign and everything, and ive done 2 post mortems out of there now and neither had worms. so i dont believe they need to be wormed very often at all. thats why i find it easier jsut to check if they have worms and worm them rather then wormign them at a specific time period.

i could always make a video of the next one, will depend if my camera still works though.

If thats the case i am guessing all the carpet snakes of late that have been talked about dying of worms were wild caught animals and were sold as captive bred.
