Im wondering if Australia has any Sea/Water snakes that could possible be a pet? I've herd they can be dangerous so that may stop it being possible.
Also, if they are allowed to be kept as pets, what sort of special requirements would they have?
Sorry if these questions sound stupid.
Thankyou in advance.

the fact they are dangerous really has little baring on whether you can keep them we already regularily keep some of the worlds most deadly snakes in private collections. what would imo make them unsuitable for keeping is the size of the enclosure required to maintain them, never mind im fairly certain they are open water breeders so trying to establish domestic breeding stocks would be almost impossible. wich would mean you can only keep wild caught species wich is illegal without the correct permits and it wouldnt be worth the hassle

Hydrophiids are almost as diverse as there land dwelling counterparts, occupying different ecological niches within the marine environment. Some species are true pelagic (open water) species while others live in Mangroves, Coral Reefs, Estuarys etc.

Some species don't seem to adapt well, while others will breed. In most states they cannot not be legally held outside of zoos/aquariums etc.

Cheers,
Scott
