Hi
my m-d python is 8 yo and 5 1/2 ft, she has been refusing feed for the last two cycles (14 day per feed cycle) and I'm getting worried. She is no less active, vet said she us in good health, maybe slightly heavy but nothing worrying. Her eyes are clear so no sign of an imminent shed. So with 6 weeks without eating I'm wondering if this is a normal thing at this cold time of year or do you think I should investigate further?

Oh and the two feeds prior to her stopping she played with it and took ages to eat it.

I would say its your heat if you cant notice anything else and the vets said shes fine. Pythons wont eat if they aren't warm so monitor the temps and make sure they're what they are supposed to be and try again after shes warmed up for a few days

Probably seasonal, may be temperature related... 6 weeks is absolutely nothing to worry about. Are you sure it's female - males can go off food at this time of the year for a few months.

The lady I got her off thought she was a boy but in her check up prior to sale they probed "him" and said "he" is a her :) so I'm fairly sure it's a she. She just did a poo and it was three types, the usual balls of brown, slime and white (fur n stuff I'm guessing) and a little pile of orange lumps!!! :-o

Don't need the fecal description. If they're unskilled at probing it can be easy to mistake a male for a female. Best to get it done by someone who knows how to do it.

It was done by an exotic specialist pre purchase, so I'm sure he knew what he was doing. I'm just wondering if the strange colour she just evacuated could be of some concern, hence the description, sorry if I put you off your tea! So if 6 weeks is not concerning as a fasting period, when should I become alarmed? She has had the same heating for her whole life (she came to me with enclosure) so there has been nothing changed, I have had her for almost 12 months and never had trouble with her eating.
