hey guys just wondering what sort of wood people use for there snake cages?

I am about to construct my next one out of marine ply because it has to withstand high humidity. The last lot were white melamine (or coated ship board as I call it) and are still going fine after 4 years.

for building or inside the cages??? i built my cages from melamine, as it looks good, cheaper, easier to clean and a little more water resistant than some other wood but it all depends on your budget and where you want to house the cages coz if you wanted them in your lounge room say you want something that will fit in and look great, as for the wood inside the cage, just something stable that wont hurt the snake if it falls slips etc....but be careful of the nasties you could be bringing home with you in the wood

i used HMR melamine and just gap seal the inside to stop the it gettin in the gaps and makin the wood swell
