Native snakes and lizards have been stolen from a council reserve in the Newcastle area.
Police from Newcastle City Local Area Command are investigating the thefts which occurred over two nights; the first overnight on Friday (29 September 2017), and the second about 1.30am today (Sunday 1 October 2017).
On both occasions entry was forced to a storage room at Blackbutt Reserve, New Lambton. A frilled neck lizard was stolen on the first night and 15 reptiles were taken last night.
They include two frilled neck lizards, two shingle back lizards, a central netted dragon, two Woma pythons, four central beard dragons, two spotted pythons, and two olive pythons.
Police are now appealing for anyone with information with information about their whereabouts to come forward.
