I bought a tank used for bearded dragons and have begun converting to a snake tank. Just needed to know if the ceramic bulb holder could be safely secured to wood or if I need a heat/burn proof style spacer? Has anyone had any experience with this

I avoid chipboard/reconstituted paper. I use hardwood. Be wary of cracking the glass due to the heat from the ceramic. Had this happen from both Ceramic and UV.

Personally i'd make a heat proof spacer, just to be safe. I've found on some enclosures a burn mark where the CHE has gotten way to hot and the thermostat hadn't kicked in, the wires where all black as well.

I've been looking into concrete fibre board because it can be drilled and worked with and can withstand a fair bit of heat . Hard wood sounds alright but I suppose if there were an electrical failure it could still catch alight
