termo trouble

HI all me and my girlfriend just got 2 bearded dragons. awsum pets we had a timer for the heat lamp as we could not get the thermo to work now we have it working but when it gets to the right temp it stills stays on. would it be better to go back to the timer.

what thermostat have you got?
if its a dimming stat then it will stay on, but just dimm the power source so as to produce a constant heat to maintain the set temps...

not sure what type it was already was wired in. it is a tank made by reptapets

sorry not sure what it is. it was already wired into the tank which is from reptapets. we are just not sure if what is happening is correct. we have set the temp but of course when it gets to the temp it switches off but then as the temp drops (about 15 min) later it is back on. this means it is on and off like a disco ball all day????????
