when they first hatch, you need to use moist papertowel. to keep the humidity a little high, mist regularly.

paper towel is easier.

the compact uv? take it out, it will do them damage. get a tube. reptisun 10.0 or at least reptisun 5.0. sit it on the top of the tub.

i just noticed the manly daily? :D your in my neck of the woods :D

Pm me if you need some more help, sourcing uv, or hands on.. :)

Yeah im down in newport.
i can change the compact to a tube i have a heaps around the house.
do you think they will climb up the cables and get out?

Heres my setup.. I would of given same info as Kirby so I wont go over the same things...

50L tubs,
50Watt bulbs keeps basking spot 40c
cool end I keep little ice cream container lids with SHALLOW water (when its hot they can sit in it keeps them cool)

The two bricks with tile gives them the basking spot plus a hiding spot underneath..

I don't entirely agree with changing the Compact UV, but thats your call. I've always used them with no problems.

I wouldn't bother with the heatmat unless its really cold where you are. I'd stick a 60w phillips reflector globe in one of the lamps and use that for heat. I turned mine off at a night and they were fine, but if its cold maybe use the heatmat very low at night just to take the chill off them more than anything.

Do you intend feeding them small/pinhead crix in there? If so, don't bother, the crix will escape under the paper before they get them.

Nothing.. Where I live its hot in summer at night.. it wont drop below 20c normally where they normally sleep.. In Winter stick another clamp lamp on with a ceremic heater or take the bulb out and stick a heater in :D

thanks Dave94 what do you have for night heat?

i was going to feed them in something else(with a lid)
i wasn't sure if i needed the heat mat it does get cold sometimes but i have move it ontop of my snake tanks so there is heat coming from that

No need for Night heating. Ignore comments RE: Compact UV. They work fine. Remove the cables as they could climb out. Place Papaertowel down instead of Newspaper and mist regularly. Wallah! Perfect setup :D

Petbiz monavale, Darley Street has some reptile 5.0 tubes in stock. come in tomorrow and ill be there :D

they may shimmy up the cables, put the mat under the tub ;) if you want to, drill (or soldering iron) a hole near the bottom and squeeze the thermostat cable through ;) you dont really need to heat at nght, but for newly hatched dragons, you could set the night time mat onto about 95F (35C) so they can digest in there sleep. it will fasten their metabolism, and aid growth and development.

All looks lovely on paper but from my experience theyve done the job fine.

Either way its really up to the OP as to what s/he would like to use. I do strongly urge that you remove any cables though otherwise youll end up playing hide and go seek with your hatchies as I did with mine.
