Code of practice for the welfare of animals - Private keeping of reptiles

what are your thoughts on it. i was just reading it.

3.1.2. Terrestrial snakes

a) For two adult specimens up to 4m in total length (L = length of longest specimen):
length = 0.45L
width = 0.375L
height = 0.25L

For each additional specimen add 20% area.

3.1.3. Arboreal snakes

a) For two adult specimens up to 4 m in total length (L = length of longest specimen):
length = 0.45L
width = 0.3L
height = 0.5L

what are your thoughts on this housing size thing?

Whoops, didnt read properly, missed the bit about "total length" but would still say minimum standard.

I presume he is talking about Victoria. The DSE produced a booklet with a number of minimum husbandry standards. I thought they may have had a link to a PDF of the booklet on their web site but I could not find one.

If you could email/PM me a snail mail address I can send you a copy as we have a couple lying around at home.

From memory the booklet was produced after years of discussion. I think drafts of the text even got posted to the AustralianHerps list at some stage.
