Hey everyone..
When I brought my EWD, Billy.. I was informed that I was allowed to keep ONE lizard without a license.. unless I sell her, which won't be happening.
Is this still the go?
I've tried to research it heaps but all the websites say something different and I've had a look at the permit forms and they still weren't much help :?
So if anyone can give me more info on when ya need a permit and everything.. that would be amazing

cheers, Ebony =]

Yes, in SA you can keep one animal that is listed on the basic species list without a permit. But as you have also pointed out, you cannot sell or giveaway the animal without a permit.
So, if you want any more animals, you will need a permit or, if you want a specialist listed animal you will need a permit. You will also need a permit if you decide down the track you wish to try and breed your animal (as it would abviously result in more animals).
Hope this helps.

Yeah I'm hoping to try and breed her at some stage, so I'll have to look into that.
Cheers for that, cleared it up for me!

yes, you are right. in sa you are allowed to keep 1 basic protected species without a permit. you will need a basic permit to keep more than 1 reptile on the basic list (basic includes most snakes, lizards and birds). if you want to keep specilist animals (crocks, gtp's and other cool things) you will need a specialist permit.
