In Perth we are having much cooler nights already that last year, and having such a large enclosure I wanted a more effective and efficient way to heat my enclosure.
I picked up this shelf from bunnings for $9 but it didn't hold heat well and my carpet didn't seem to like it, so I put some AstroTurf on it and those who have used it would know it is awesome and warning up and holding heat.

So far it's been working awesome.
Directly under the heat source makes it really easy to control, and holds a warm spot much better than just a log sitting up close ( log on the left was the previous hotspot).

You could also try a slate tile. That will hold the heat really well for much longer than astro turf

Excuse my naivete but are you just running the heat cord straight under the astro turf??? Looking at building an enclosure and trying to get some ideas.... cheers
