Hi All,

I am thinking of trying out a bioactive enclosure for one of my Antaresia, I'm curious to see if there are any changes in behavior from those in a standard captive set up.

I'm looking for detailed information about set up and where materials were acquired. Plus any general observations. Any pictures would be appreciated. I have read through all bioactive posts here, I'd like more detailed information.

Key questions would be:
  • drainage layer necessity (in conjunction with the soil used as some soils drain more effectively than others)
  • soil type/make up (soil/sand ratio, biodegradables, voids for invertebrate habitat)
  • charcoal necessity
  • beneficial fungi and bacteria (to assist the invertebrates in clean up)

I have done research but all cases and detailed information originated overseas.

Regards,
Nick

From what I've read bioactive substrates in small indoor vivs are more effort than they are worth .
