No offence. but you are a kid, and puting that in a book will teach other kids what not to do.I am sure the EPA wont put you in jail. and besides I am sure they read these forums and already know.

If you are going to write about your experenices make it a worthwile read..
True, very good point.

They do ....

Okay then I'll include that!

sounds good , but a 150 page book  bugger that ill wait till it comes out on video :)

Who's going to publish it? Writing a book isn't as simple as writing it and then the first publisher you go to will publish it. I'm not particularly sure many people would buy it- after all, you're only relatively new to reptiles and usually people buying books on reptiles are looking for identification guides, or tried and tested methods of husbandry, from experts in their field. With that competition, I don't know whether or not your book would be sought out for.

However, good luck if you go on with it :)

150 words is nothing haha. i read a (roughly) 450 page book in a night once. but it is my favourtie book hehe :)

rainbow good luck :) if you wanna write a book, write the book :]

Go for it!

You definately have a passion for it so dont let anybody hold you back.
As people have said, be prepared for constructive critisism and dont expect it to be published right away though.

Do alot of drafting and make sure you write down all the ideas you want to include or else (if you're anything like me) you'll forget some parts :p

but definately include the bunnings story, it will reflect true mistakes which can be made by new keepers and how you learned from it. It will show a progression in your understanding of the dos and donts of snakes

:) goodluck!

hey rainbow serpent, good on you. i'm glad to see people your age into educating things instead of drugs, sex and alcohol! as a mother i would be proud to hear my kids doing some of the same stuff as you. my seven year old loves reptiles and if he tells me he is writing a book even if its next year i would support him 100%. I crave the day people on this forum see a posting and don't jump straight on board for a flaming but maybe some positive words. isn't that what we all should be here for to learn and educate not flame away!

its a great idea dont listen to the old farts who criticise you, go for it

YAY! id buy it! if you ever finish and get it published :D . i wrote so many stories when i was younger  im like fritz im a such a book freak i read everyday!

Good Luck and Have Fun even if it ends up just being a memory thing for yourself, it will be cool as when your older. im also proud to say as of the dec 23rd i will also have been keeping for a WHOLE YEAR  whoop 1 childrens, 2 jungles, 2 beardies, 1 coastal later  plus 2 rats, 3 mice and many babies!

p.s i saw your jungle thread and he is turning into a STUNNER! they would be cool to include how he's developed!

Go for it.

After Vamipres, herps are the next big thing. Probably a little freaky if you write about your experiences as a vampire, (and I think Anne Rice has that covered).

The fact is you look 13 but you sound like your 413 years old. Coincidence, I think not.

Yep write a book to inspire young people to get into herping, and/or to help young people convince their elders that young people can be good keepers and get a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction from caring for a scaled friend.

i think its a good idea, but even if you are jsut maknig a book of personal memories, it would be better to wait for a few more years maybe.

a big book full of interesting expierences in reptile keeping, i would assume it would have more than just two snakes, in your first year.

imagine how interesting it would be to write a book when your like, 18-20, and can talk about the last 6 or so years of keeping reptiles, all the wonderful animals youve had, funny, sad, amazing and shocking experiences you came across.

no offense, but i wouldnt read 150 pages about two snakes. there has to be more substance.

:)

I just thought of a website that actually does one offs..this would be a great way to get your ideas down etc and see a completed draft for a reasonable price...getting multiple copies printed can be expensive from any printers as normally they would only accept draft runs of 500 or more.

However, as a one off... try Clickonprint PhotoBooks - The Home of the Coffee Table Photo book | Photo Books & Photo Albums.

For this I reckon you could at least write your first book at minimal cost...Get your parents to vet it...sounds like far too many negative people here..."you go girl" and prove em all wrong.

Just look at my signature for inspiration! (reproduced here in case I change it...."Behold the Turtle: (s)he makes progress only when (s)he sticks his neck out" )

no offense inteded, but you do not have enough experience to write a book, you have been keeping what a year? and have 2 snakes? I think you should be waiting another few years before you even think about it.

And who the hell are you sorry..?

it will be good to write a book because in say 5 years you can look back on the book and see how much more knowledge you have since then.

And who the hell are you sorry..?

what relevence does it have to this thread? sorry but I don't really want to argue either, if you want, feel free to send me "angry" PM's and I might have a read of them if your lucky

Go for it! I love reading, and writing, and I know a guy, 11 years old, breeds tarantulas and wrote a great article in THULA. I myself have had various articles published as well. Who cares about your age, you are just as knowledgeable.
