Hi All,

i am thinking of buy a pair of albino spotteds from snake ranch. Can anyone tell me if they have picked some up from them. and what they think about the snakes.

Hey mate, I havent gotten snakes from SR, but all ive ever heard is excellent things about them and people on the forum that have are always very happy with their services and the quality of their snakes. i am sure a couple of people who have purchased from them will add to this...

Buying a pair of albinos or hets? I don't think many people will be able to give you much advice on them specifically since they are so new and I'd guess very few people have them. Like Doc, I've only heard good things about Snake Ranch so you know the service history is there. Either way I hope your bank account is looking healthy :)

Thanks guys. I have just picked two i am going to get. My first 100% Het for Albino Spotted python ever :) I hope it goes well for me

If you don't mind me asking...how much is a pair?

Ben

Yep alot of cash but all for the love of snakes :)

That's great congrats. How old are they? I can't wait to see albino hatchies

mate if thats what you want then just get them hey. "NORMAL" people think im nuts with the amount of money i spend on some of my herps. haha

You would find that SR sell hets not albinos they will be there breeders and be to exspensive anyway I personaly havent bought of them but often email them and find them very helpful and freindly

SR are great, ive got nothing but alot of praise for them.Considering Albino-het Spotted are a fairly new python, the first few people who buy them and succesfully breed them should atleast break even if not make a few extra $$.With any new morphs the people who buy in the first season once they come out generally will do good. Its when the market is flooded, just look at the Albino Darwin,i can only imagine what price they will be next season..Snakeman478 everyone just about has some sort of hobby-interest you and all of us like reptiles. It is amazing on how much we can spend on reptiles.

Congrats on your purchase redline. It will be interesting when snake ranch release pure albino spotteds to the General public, as I believe its their second year they have sold hets it will be a few years before pure albino spotteds come up for sale from the general public. Het to het matings will slow pure albino production down for a few years..

Well they won't be released this year as they still only have the 1 albino, ribald rodney. Next season they hope to be producing the first of their albinos.

Yeah I was going to say I thought they only had one. So it isn't a matter of slowing production by using hets. That's just all they have right now

shouldn't they have more than 1 though if they are offering 100% het pairs already? i am not all that familiar with the whole breeding thing (i want to learn) but by now if they are selling 100% hets for the second year, how many have they held back previously? and how many of those hold backs are at a breeding age? i just think that if they were offering hets for sale, they must have bred a few albinos somewhere along the line that they are keeping hush hush about until they have gotten the albinos to a point where they can start selling them. does that make sense or am i being a newbie?

Macs don't breed till about 2 (18 months at the earliest) from what I've read. So the hets from last season wouldn't be able to produce until next season at the earliest

I bought a pair of het spotteds last year from SR and have had no problems with them at all. Great feeders with both snakes weighing around the 350 gram each and SR were great to deal with. Well done on your snake buddy.

but would they sell any hets from the very first breeding? i don't know, maybe i am being silly here, but i personally wouldn't sell any of the hets from a first breeding or a second if i wanted to get some albinos going. once i had some established hets then i would sell any future hets excess to my needs. i am not trying to imply anything here, just posing some questions, but does anyone really know that the first lot of hets up for sale were the first hets sr ever produced? i would think coming out straight away with the knowledge of owning an albino snake that is possibly the only 1 known of would be risky buisness/ opening up oneself to theft etc etc. also are sr the only ones to own an albino spotted? because i saw an advert on herp trader for an "unrelated pair" of het spotteds for $6k, maybe i read it wrong though?

SR could have bred hundreds of hets (not saying this is the case). One albino male can be mated over many females.

Therefore i am sure they have surplus stock.
