yeah the picture with the rats he was blue, that was last week. he shed on sunday, and i fed him my last hopper rat straight away, thats why he is so fat and pretty in the first picture, which was taken last night :)

snakes can and do die from feeds that are too big. if you love your snake dont take stupid unnecessary risks.

theres a number of threads on here where people have pushed the limit, the snake got it down and either died due to not being able to digest it properly, another managed to half regurge, and died anyway.

up to you, but be aware there are risks involved.

weigh both, 30% of the snakes body weight is the max i'd go for personally. (actually, ive never fed a meal over 20%, but ive never heard of one dying from 30%)

oh okay thanks, i thought it might be too big but the lady who bred my snake also sells me the rats at the pet shop she runs and she pushed me into buying these.
now when i go back and buy more hoppers shes going to be mean i think haha
ill make a friend go in.

If the snake cant eat it, it will just bring it back up :)

As C1 has said, a large meal regurgitated is no laughing matter - you risk the life of your snake if you don't offer sensible sized food. Just because they can (and may have to in the wild) doesn't mean they should when in your 'care.'

I have feed some pretty massive items before, but I wouldn't go that far

Just put them on ice, looks like it will tackle it without worry in a month or two with regular feeding

I feed approx 20% of the snakes weight when they are young. You don't have to feed massive food items just give them 2 or 3 to get the right size feed.

ahhh okay. cos the lady at the pet shop knows ive been powerfeeding him two hoppers a week and he has gotten sooo big, and she was like no dont power feed just feed him bigger feeds less often.
im going to leave them in the freezer theyve already been there a month.

back to hopper rats then? i think i will. i love him too much. would kill me if i hurt him.

If your woeeied about feeding bigger food Items dont be snkes arent stupid If the Item Is to big they will not usually eat It even though bredlis have a grat feeding response from that secound photo maybe to big though a reliable guide Is to weigh the snake then feed 20-30% body weight

Bookmark that page that Deadpan linked. I've got a copy in my snake record spreadsheet and I refer to it ALL the time

Keepers on here who have lost snakes due to food items being too big would disagree

Post when your sober, this way you advise may actually be right. If your not drunk, work on your grammar. Plus your wrong snakes will eat something too big, this is their natural instinct (due to their wild instinct, they don't know when their next feed may come). Your advise could potentially cause harm.

Because snakes are opportunistic predators, when in feeding mode they would strike and try to eat anything you give them. This is why the correct size food is offered, for stress and other problems from oversize food. You don't get prizes for trying to feed large rats to small pythons.

If youa re worried youc an give two small ones or a small one and something a bit smaller just for the next few weeks till he gets a bit bigger.....

I believe the general rule is that it should be slightly bigger thand the thickest part of your snake. Well thats the method i use anyway lols

i reckon that snake can eat that rqt easily, no probs, go for it. our little bredli eats like a champion and so does my bhp. it will look too big, but you'll be surprised

How old is he looks like he should down it pretty easily, If you're feeding 2 hoppers a week then you should be fine, My snakes are on L rats on the heavy end of L and they are only 2
