Hey everyone, bit of a bum night well i have a little story about a blue tongue.. I was at tennis tonight (starts at 6 ends at 8ish) and at about 6:30 my best mate calls me and tells me me this - "he was playing in his friends yard with 2 other friends (so there was my mate and 3 of his mates) and they found a blue tongue. My friend's mate picked it up and half its tail fell off. All 3 guys accept for my mate said it dropped its tail and my mate denied it but the other 3 wouldn't listen. My mate new that they don't drop their tails because he learns stuff from me... They went behind his back and let it go in the park to think it would be fine and they wouldn't let my friend stop them cause they thought they were correct.... My mate managed to get back out there later on and grab the blue tongue (which had barely moved a meter from where they released it) and saw half its tail had fell of and the remaining tail had a massive gash in it that was nearly right through... its was literally dangling dragging along... He said it was bleeding on its head and one of its arms was limp and not working... I said this back to him - put him in a towel, then in a cardboard box, put him in a cupboard were it is warm and quiet and ill be there after tennis with food, a little cage and a heat matt" - I got there after tennis with my equipment and found him in the box. I thought i would be able to take him home and nurse him till he heals up but the wounds were very bad, the tail was very serious and had stopped bleeding, he was weak and in extreme pain. He needed professional treatment fast. His mum was like "no just leave it overnight i'm not going out to a vet at 8:30 at night just for a lizard..." but we explained to her everything etc its in serious pain and may not make it overnight so after numerous offers from me to take it to a vet that specialises in herps she decided to call a local vet that was open 24/7. I just got home then and they said they would call me and update me on what they did. I think the vets may put the poor fella down as he is in a lot of pain even though that sounds mean.. or they will probably stitch it up, bandage it up and clean up all the other wounds etc, then maybe some lizard pain killers (if they exist) and maybe a beta-tine bath to stop the wounds from getting infected etc.. I don't know anything from this point (just got home) but he said he will call me tonight and update me so i will keep you posted. I will hopefully go and visit the vets tomorrow (after morning cricket) and ask how he is and whats happening with him. We figured that the injuries were from the 2 dogs that live in the back yard so there really is no one to blame here just a sad story all though those boys really should listen to someone who knows the truth instead of being stubborn and just thinking what they reckon... Thanks everyone for reading, its a very sad story :(

my mate just called me, its gone to a vet and its going to a wildlife place where it will get properly treated and its not getting put down
