Hi guys
Anyone know where to buy Aspen bedding in theSydney area .
thanks Ron:?

You can get it from your local pet barn or Petcare 2000 store, or ask your local petshop to obtain some from there supplier(Pet Pacific). Brand is 'Zoomed'.

Neil

the pet shop at Birkenhead point sells it..

Ben

Pets R Fun in eastgardens stocks it, but best to call ahead about avalbility, they only get smaller amounts in and sometimes they get cleared out quick

Petbarn in Campbelltown has it too.

Zoomed is one brand, but I prefer the KayTee brand. It's imported by Masterpet and your petshop should be able to get it in for you.

hey guys i have been thinking about aspen bedding for a while what are some of the pros and cons of the particular substrate??

Pros:
  • It absorbs liquid and (to some extent) odours.
  • Spot-cleaning.
  • Animals can bury themselves in it (my Bluetongues love hiding in it).
  • It looks more natural than newspaper.

Cons:
  • Woodies disappear into it very quickly.
  • If you get mites, they will happily live in it and will be harder to see, and you will need to do a complete substrate change before spraying (would recommend you go back to newspaper until your mites have all gone).
  • Doing a complete substrate change can be messy.

how does aspen go when feeding isnt there a risk of some getting digested??

Pythline08: I would say you would feed your herps outside of enclosure.

My beardies occassionally ingest a small bit when chasing insects, but hasn't caused any problems.
