So what im understanding is you have exposed che and your putting a snake in an enclosure with uncured silicon i would think both could be potentially harmful to your snake
Yeah some people are very passionate and sometimes things can come across worse than it was intended , most of the time their hearts are in the right place. My advice to you would be never listen to pet shop worker unless you are 100% sure they know what they are talking about as a lot can be just sales people that know a little general knowledge of reptiles. I have found that you can generally use a lower wattage CHE than you would use for a heat light and they heat more of the air than a light. Maybe you could make a custom light cage to accommodate all three devices but do you really need all three of them? The silicone had cured before the snake went in there and as for tape I just hadn't taken it off he's only been in there for a few days. As for it being my only/first snake no it's not I've had him for a while now its the FIRST time I've used heat emitters and being the lowest wattage I could find and being told by a pet store that they didn't stock 50watt emitters because they didn't get very hot I thought I wouldn't need lighting cages. These issues will be addressed an as for the light I've taken it out there is no need to get angry and try to patronize me. Isn't that why we are on the forum for advice and to share our experiences and learn from them? I'm just grateful that I uploaded a picture And by doing so a potential issue has been eliminated so thanks for the feedback guys!

No disrespect intended Lockie_1. I have seen and been the recepient of considerably harsher "feedback" from members with considerably less tact then myself. My first concern was for the snake. The gist of the posts also seemed that the feedback was being taken lightheartedly hence the upset nature of my reply. It took me 6 months of research and net surfing and reading over a dozen books before i purchased my first snake and all that research still amounted to squat as experience is a great teacher. My first snake when transfered to his adult cage went straight for his heat emitter and wrapped around the cage and stayed there for hours(hence my panicked post). Scared the crap out of me, but i knew that the cage wasnt hot enough to do harm. Again you will find varying feedback on here some you, like the rest of us need to take with a grain of salt. Just remember as andy said, it is usually given with best intentions in mind. Ps. Great looking BHPThe silicone had cured before the snake went in there and as for tape I just hadn't taken it off he's only been in there for a few days.
