Hi, one of the babies i had hatch 2 weeks ago seems to have no eyes. Before you all start i realize this is my fault as i didnt know mum was gravid and did not give enough calcium. I feel terrible.

My problem is the others are all eating both baby woodies and vegie but this little guy doesnt seem to know how!

I feed him on his own. Tried both in his enclosure and out. I thought he would be able to hear them scratching around but he's just scared and doesnt move.

What can i do to help him?

Any ideas?

oh the poor thing. i hope for the best. it is not your fault at all and dont feel guilt. this hasnt happened from your wrong doing.
head up and stay positive aye

ohh poor thing. Probably best thing to do for him is take him to the vet and you....know.... he will probably end up dying if he cant eat so that he wont go through pain of starvation and problems from lack of calcium and food, that would probably be your best option. If you manage to get him to eat than great and don't get him euthanased. Keep trying and dont give up until you have tried all types of ways to feed him! its not your fault, these things happen.

Putting him down is probably the best bet, but if you really want to try and feed him in the meantime, why not offer veges - at least they don't move and he can probably sniff them out.

It probably is best to get him put down - I remember reading about him from when they first hatched.
If u did want to try, I think the only thing would be to have him in his own little enclosure with minimal things in it, but u would nearly have to hand feed him, so lot of time involved.
Let us know the outcome.

Thanks for that gregcranston.

Yer lollypop he has been a worry from the start.

My son got him licking a bit of grated carrot tonight we are still trying! It will break my heart to have him put down but i will if he's in pain. There doesnt seem to be any dominance issues, i am watching very closely.

I wasn't concerned about the dominance issues. Thinking if I were a blind little beardie, I'd be VERY sensitive to any movement around me, imagining it was something coming to eat me, so therefore wouldn't dare move!!!!
That was just the thought of his own little enclosure where he could learn he was safe, & learn to trust u feeding him.
Once again, let us know - poor little fellow.

No, but Warranwood Vet isn't too far away, their number is: (03)98790900.
They are quite experienced with herps. They are open till 7pm tonight and tomorrow night. Also open 9am-1pm on Saturday.

Be very careful with Warranwood vets, one vet in particular.
Make sure that they specialise & know their stuff with beardies before you take him there.
I have a turtle here in a very bad condition thanks to a herp specialist vet they have working for them.
Shell scutes were torn off leaving exposed bone open to infection.
I won't post the vets name here, but if you want to know marksmate, just pm me.

Wow i didn't even think of that. Thanks. He doesnt move around as much as the others. I will separate them inthe morning, he is currently sleeping with the others!

personally, if it was mine. i would hand feed it evryday and keep him on his own, he will defiantly adapt in time...

I am not giving up on him unless i feel he is not coping!

This is the only pic i have of his eyes i will try to get a better one tomorrow.

good luck with the little one, i can understand how you've just fallen in love!! gorgeous! hope everything works out for the best

He's so cute, I can fully understand you not wanting to give up on him. You deserve all the praise and support you are getting for doing it tough with the little guy. Good on you and good luck with him, I hope he makes it and thrives :)
