And asked me to investigate, there was a tail inside and he wasn't sure who it was.
I grabbed the torch and had a squiz and this is what I found.....

A Lace monitor nest! All the occupants had hatched, 6 of the little cuties left! Funny thing is we have never seen Mummy or Daddy and the nest is 5m from our back door! We have previous offspring hanging around and now we have 6+ more. Mummy put the nest in a nasty spot tho, the whole thing was covered in large rocks. One poor babe was digging the wrong way! On hands and knees with bare hands I carefully dug them out. Gave them each a kiss and watched them run away! SO CUTE
Got some pics of the first two out so enjoy.
What a way to spend the day, Muddy and with such cute company!

nice pics, by the way they are sandies not lacies. still good to have round either way.

Really! Never seen them before so assumed it was the lacies that have been hanging around! Anyone tell me about them?

Actually come to think of it... they are so similar in appearance when they bolt!
