globe issue

just had a brand new repta sun compact globe blow after 4 hours of use. The fitting and globe were that hot i could not touch them, possibly excess heat from the basking lamp?? i would have assumed these globes would be made to be used in hot enviroments. Ant tips pointers so this doesnt happen again.
