hey

i obtained my spotted python today hes about 30cm
the herp guy i bought it off recommended the heat mat as a heating source. the heat mat has a built in thermostat ive got it set to 31 degrees on one side of the enclosure. on the thermostat he said attach the probe to the top of the heat pad. so yea the heat pad is cutting out at 31 degrees but thats leaving the ambient temp down inside the enclosure. which is about 25-26 degrees. should i crank up the heat pad and get the ambient temperature up? if i do this will it burn my snake ( the enclosure is a plastic fish container with pellet substrate) any suggestions.
sorry if this is a stupid question new to all of this
thanks
any questions just ask
