if your happy with him thats all that matters ;)

I guess its one of those things where SO many people tell you SO many different things.. you just get so confused and decide to trust the person that has dedicated his life to it - and learning just that - to look after reptiles.

its always good to see something different. probably not something I would do though

why??

he seems to know a lot more then anyone else i know - well obviously considering he specialises in reptiles.
he is recommended by so many people.. thats why i coughed up the money for him.
he was recommended by almost everyone who works in the reptile shops i know.. he writes articles for magazines and is very knowledgeable.
I trust his decision. It has worked so far.

He might very well be an excellent vet and very good with dealing with the health of reptiles but I disagree with his actions of removing the branches and stuff from your enclosure. If it was scaring him they would be extinct in the wild by now. They don't have disco parties in the wild, so why would that be beneficial to captive ones.

sh%t ive got to say it that looks crap has to be the worst enclosure ive seen and i still think your vet has no idea sorry

umm if u use an infra red heat bulb i dont think u would because they suposedly can c them as in the light

i reckon you should breed some little trippy bubs in there. forget gtps, imagine the colours you could get. you could get lucky and get an anodised red and blue cross chrome. awsome.

It's definetly an unusual tank but i do prefer natural themed, seems to me like it's way too colourful and if the snake would stress about anything it would be that. Look at it this way, if you were in that kind of environment for a long duration of time per day, i think it would stress your eyes and brain. Also having had the snake in there and then taking it out into the normal sunlight could strain your snakes eyes.

I agree, but we must remember that snakes eyes are very different to ours, and they may only see one or two colours, if that. Light and dark can be controlled by opening and closing the pupils, so we really dont know how the enclosure is perceived by the snake.

But regardless of this, i think a snake could only handle a short period of time in that enclosure before losing the plot.

2 x 40 watt globes seems too much for that size cage, although with all the pics none really showed the cage setup. If the thermostat fails 2 x 40 watt will cook the snake real quick.

return to your planet or we will exterminate ..''..;;..;;.

That snake might turn inside-out in there............I dont even think i could stare at it for too long with out going into a trance..........

Thats Funny well done:lol:

It's good to be creative.. only thing aside from what others have said that I'd be concerned about would be the contact. Not the colours, but the fact that it's sticky, just make sure there's no edges that could peel up and stick to your snake.

I agree blackthorn, and the heat can cause the glue on the contact to 'melt' and peel off of the walls

the vet said today it is fine to use contact.
its basically gonna be hard for the contact to curl spesh the way i did it.. the only curlable places if anything are up top and he can not get that high.

i am looking into dif lights too.

i will be checking the cage a few times a day to make sure the contact is all good :)

I spose it would be like taking your room and filling it with red sand, vines, logs, and big glass walls... You wouldn't feel comfortable because it is not your natural environment.... Don't get me wrong, I think it looks cool and eccentric, but I'm just not sure if it's in the best interest of the snake.... :)

why not ? we have pink stones and red plants in our fish tank . a freind has orange stones plastc cactus and a desert background in her tank , oh ,yes i did it for her . cant wait to get our stimson out into the big enclosure ??????

I have a pot plant in my bredli's tank with orange stones. I want to deck her enclosure out to look a bit where they come from and orange was the closest to desert red I could find.

Bornto that sounds very individual having a desert theme in a fish tank.

yes mysnake ,it was just freak thing ,the dessert was on the back of a lovley fish tank type paper and i do like the different i will get aphoto on the weekend

Won't the heat from the globes just melt the glue off the contact?
