On the 8th of February this year i took in a little Ridge-tailed Monitor...Hope

She was 13 mnths old,she weighed 30grams..her head was 1cm across & her total length was 26cm,
she was left in a habitat with live feed which ate her toes & a little of her tail
she had a small wound on her head
& would not eat live food...due to trauma...she refused to eat at all by herself for qiute some time

EXTREMELY EXTATIC!!!...to do a update !
she is now 21 mnths old, weighs 88grams,,her head is 1.5 cm across& her total length is 28 cm
she now eats mealworms "in the bowl"...& semi live dusted woodies

isnt out of the woods yet...but is well on her way
but she still causes sleep loss!..lol

more pics to come......

yeah i remember the verbal beating you got for it, least i think i do. well done with it any way.enclosure looks good for it, i'd go for a less clinical environment, but i'm sure you've made the right choice due to it;s health.

these pics are the constucting of Hopes habitat....my son & i did ,,im proud of him for all his help!

how old is your son? that's really cool that you guy can work on this kind of project together. good luck with it.

My son is 11yrs old..he takes reptiles health as serious as i do
he & i constructed it ..yes im proud of him!:D

we both continually discuss methods of habitat, feed temps with her

here needs were not easy..she had almost no leg muscle....so she needed to be able to build strenght
but at the same time get t heat easily

thankyou.

..the lower steps are adjustable...it helped her build her muscle up
she needed to do more climbing to gain strength
& to increase appetite

thanks Blade....
we dont use a thermostat ,so as to get top heat....the middle tile on the heat mat is 42 * constant

the mat....this is what we used on the steps for grip
she couldnt climb...couldnt get a grip on any surface.....no toes/nails
so this helped her

Crickets,Woodies...& Mealworms

they were left in her habitat....wthout the checking if any were left ..before adding more
they ate her toes off & wounded her head...the head wound healed

Wow, I have heard of it before, as there is nearly always 3-4 crickets hiding under a rock in my beardies enclosure. Needless to say after reading this they are gone!

You are doing an awesome job, Congratulations, he is looking beautiful. Give your son a high five from me as well for helping!

thanks Rocky.....knowing what happens is better than not
great descission

i never leave lve feed in a habitat
she still has a long way to go ...still little ,but i have more Hope for her!...

Draon Lady - The toes/tail are unlikely to have been caused by live feed...

...those injuries are fairly common and are the result of poor sheds. The skin does not shed, constricts the appendage, which subsequently dies and drops off.

Good to see she is coming along well...

shes looking great mate!! :)

very happy to hear shes doing so well!! :p
