I have a thick tailed gecko and the humidity stays at 70%. I dont have a heat source or lighting and i spray his enclosure every second day. It starting to make tha sand substrte moist and smell.
is there a way to keep humidity down and reduce the smell?

i keep my milli enclosure dry but provide a 'wet box', which is just a plastic tub with a lid and a hole so they can get in with some damp spagnum moss, they go in there when they wanna be damp, it needs regular changing tho cos they tend to poo in it.

Coco peat doesn't smell even when it is wet and seems to dry out pretty well given enough time. Maybe give that a go?
Do Geckos actually NEED a heat source? I mean I think the majority are nocturnal so I would of thought not.
