As Sambulah indicates, they do not constrict their prey but swallow it alive. The teeth are needle sharp with a marked backwards curve, designed to prevent prey from wriggling free. They are primarily frog eaters, usually swallowing them back end first. This often results in some rather loud and disquieting vocalisations. Young specimens tend to take lizards as well.
