ID please

I found this little guy in the shoe box can someone tell me what type it is and if harmfull, also where is the best place to release?
He is secure in container away from my kids and pets
It has a redish head with a dark bar at the neck and on center of head no other markings!
could it be an eastern brown?

could easily be an eastern brown and it should be treated like one until someone can say otherwise. I can't guarantee it, that pic is a bit out of focus and there are a few smaller elapids and legless lizards that are easily mistaken for young EB's and i can't really tell the difference between them yet in photos, but I'd be putting my money on EB.

It's definitely an Eastern Brown, Shona...be very careful with it and let it go ASAP.

your at caboolture...jus take it out to the bush around there away from houses etc

Have taken him out to bush lands away from houses and busy road and let him free
everybody's happy.
