Hey all how are you? Look I am sure this has been discussed before but Whta i wanted to know is I have just been going over what we can and can't keep in respect to reptles in Qld and after reading it several times as far as I understand we can keep Crocs in QLD on a rec license. Here is the text direct from the website:
‘3 Reptiles
‘Each common reptile, other than a reptile that is a restricted reptile, is a
recreational reptile.

‘3 Reptiles
‘The following reptiles are restricted reptiles—

Common Name Scientific Name
The following reptiles of the family Elapidae—
black snakes Pseudechis spp

broad-headed snakes
Hoplocephalus spp
brown snakes

Pseudonaja spp
Collett’s snake

Pseudechis colletti
copperheads

Austrelaps spp
death adders

Acanthopis spp
eastern small-eyed snake

Rhinoplocephalus
nigriscens
rough scaled snake

Tropidechis carinatus
taipans

Oxyuranus spp
tiger snakes

Notechis spp
The following reptiles of the family Hydrophiidae—
all species
The following reptiles of the family Laticaudidae—
all species
All threatened or rare reptiles other than the following—
• reptiles of the family Cheloniidae
• reptiles of the family Dermochelydiae
• freshwater crocodile Crocodylus johnstoni
• saltwater crocodile

Crocodylus porosus

So from this I understand we can keep crocs on a rec license. Can anyone tell me different or does anyone keep crocs in QLD? If so what are the conditions?

Any help would be much appreciated.

But it says all threatened or protected reptiles other than blah blah blah Freshwater Croc.
I would have thought it meant that it was exempt fromt he restricted list.

I can only find anything about them for Exhibiting wildlife and Crocodile farming....

All threatened or rare reptiles other than the following—
• reptiles of the family Cheloniidae
• reptiles of the family Dermochelydiae
• freshwater crocodile Crocodylus johnstoni
• saltwater crocodile

Tis means we CANNOT keep the above (ALl threatened or rare reptiles other than the following...)
And then comes crocs.

yeap so that says you cant keep crocodile or sea turtles

ok so would you be able to if you had a restricted license?

The way I read it it the above is not stating what cannot be kept but rather what is restricted (this appeared further up on the page) and therefore says all threatened or rare reptiles are restricted OTHER than those crocs etc. therefor the crocs are not considered restricted.
using your own reasoning would mean you CAN keep all the "threatened and rare reptiles" other than crocs etc.

NO

it is saying that all the reptiles in that list can only be kept on a restricted license EXCEPT seaturtles and crocs, they CANNOT be kept on a restricted license......

restricted license is the top.... therefore you cannot keep crocs AT ALL!

Doesn't it state in the guidelines somewhere that all reptiles other than resricted are rec reptiles. And if that isn't so then what you are saying is that there is no way in QLD you can get a croc. Does any one on here in Qld have one that isn't a zoo????
