isnt dps some myth?

Gee I wish these clowns could put a sock in it before hitting the keyboard...

I've used Mark Simpson at Sugarloaf Animal Hospital, West Wallsend (our end of the F3) and been very impressed with his knowledge and facilities. There are several good vets in the area, I'd be happy to use any of them, but I know Mark has invested heavily as a reptile specialist.

Please let us know how this pans out matey...

J.

Are the lumps like blisters...is there fluid in them?

If there is fluid in them...it could be blister disease - which is like a neucrotic dermatitis...
What's your humidity like in the DP's enclosure?

If it looks like blisters, I would certainly see a vet - the blisters start off sterile but can become septic and cause Septicemia without treatment. You will need to swab your animal twice daily with chlorehexidine and your snake will need antibiotics probably every two days for at least five treatments - maybe even Vit B&C too.

Let us know how you go...good luck...I hope your DP comes good.

G'day Jamie I have contacted Pete Nosworthy from wyong and he has said anytime i can get the snake down to him he will make time to see it for me so im planing to head down on monday, we didnt talk much about any of the symptoms over the phone so I have nothing to tell as yet but I will keep you all posted

Adele I do think their is either fluid or possibly gas in the lumps as their not solid at all but my enclosure is kept very dry and this time of year the humidity in the air out here shouldn't cause such a problem but I will let you's know how it all goes after the vet

Peter is a quality Vet! As are all at the practice. Sounds like Blister to me....Humidity is not your worry! but a log as a hide, or asnake that disperses from his water bowl, Is!

With something like this I would only let Pete check it. The other vets there are all top quality and do their very best but when it comes to reptiles Pete is the only one I would personally use.

Hi guys sorry i cant tell you anything yet there has been a change of plans and I will be taking it down on Thursday
will let you know as soon as I find anything out

cheers
Josh

Well I got to the vet and there wasn't much he could tell me, the lumps had gone down to almost nothing by the time i got there but I have a course of antibiotics to give him as the vet seems to think the lumps were just "some sort of infection" I will keep it seperated and just hope for the best for now and wait until these antibiotics run their course

Hi Farma I'm fairly sure Jungletrans posted some months ago with a similar problem involving an Olive. Maybe it's worth a PM?
