Old tv conversion

Hi all as the title states I have converted an old tv to a reptile enclousure and was wondering what is the best type of wood to use because I want it to be fairly thin wood but if I have thin wood it would mean that it would be harder to attach Perspex on it but if I had thicke wood there would be less enclousure space but easier to put on the Perspex any advice would make an easier choice thanks
