Hope that will reflect out here. would be great to see an increase in popularity.

Yeh thats true but there are also a lot of dog breeders that would have quite a few animals too though. Plus there are ppl who only have one or two reptiles and thats all. So it would all balance out to some degree.

I would be interested in knowing the figures for the USA.

The RSPCA in the UK have made Reptile keepers out to be heartless villians, they step way over the line in regards to their activities as animal police, if they get their way there wouldn't be anyone outside of zoo's allowed to keep them.
The main issue is that the 'RSPCA'(In the UK) don't want to have to deal with unwanted Reptiles along with all the unwanted Cats and Dogs, so they blow it out of proportion and say that things are out of control.
If the UK had the licencing system here it would be far better and the impulse buying that goes on would be cut.
Alot of Petshops in the UK have also built up a bad reputation through selling baby burms and Iguana's as babies and telling the owner little or no info on how to look after them and what size they should expect them to grow to, again Australia's rules on Reptiles in petshops are alot better, although I would like to see it stricter in some respects.

Saying that, it would be nice to see reptiles for sale in NSW, in specialised reptile shops, where the reptile shop owners and staff have alot of knowledge, and they can sell the hardiest of reptiles to licence holders in a responsible manner.
