Here's the relocated animal, pre and post shed. Bit cage defensive, but O.K once out. The wound's healed well, considering the force of the blow! I promise, these are the last for a while:)!

Thanks for posting, Scrubs are probably my favorite group of Pythons. I recently got a Sorong Barneck and I've never worked with a snake that is so aware, they've also got a habit of looking you right in the eye at all times!

An injury from pre rescue, bashed on the head with a cardboard tube from a vinyl roll if memory serves me right. One lucky scrubby in more ways then one I think!

Thanks All, Grizz is spot on, it was certainly a hell of a wack, luckily just a glancing blow and the snake recoiled under some wooden packing crates. When I arrived, the wackee (?) palmed me in the chest and asked what I thought I was doing coming between him and the "big King Brown" he was about to kill :(! The closest I've ever come to loosing it on a call out.

JW, I now understand totally what you mean, it's like one of those paintings in the old horror movies how they follow your ever move. I haven't kept pythons for years, but I can't get enough of these guys! I still think elapids are cluier, though, but I may be a little biased:).

Poor scrubbie. I would have been furious as well so good on you for keeping cool.

How long is he?

those tap photos are so sweet!

...is that who called you out? why call someone out and then boast about going to kill it?
and LOL that even someone not interested in snakes would think that's a brown :|

Renenet, just shy of 3 metres (3kg), but alot of shedding going on- 3 so far since I've had it. I'm guessing it may be because of the injury (and increased food intake).

Thanks Vamp, really subtle colours, like the pink around the pits of the jawline. Reception (Guyra Tomato Farm) actually made the call initially, but Guyra's 35K from where I live. It was reported as a "large, brown in colour snake", so I assumed EB as they're a common callout. Not really suprising that locals had no idea what it was and killing snakes is an all too common reaction in the country. I'm grateful at least someone called.
