depends who you talk to....wouldnt hurt and I think most would agree its best to have.
 
I know someone who is longing for their shingleback ;-).

Agreed UV light wouldn't hurt.
 
Just like all lizards I assume its a must, Other wise you end up with bone problems.
 
I'd advise FOR it - I keep mine with UVB and I believe it's needed to keep bone problems at bay. I've seen many blue tongue's without a UVB and the most horrible deformities...
