They can be kept on anything really - sand, bark, astroturf, newspaper...some people won't even bother to give them substrate.
 
well thank you lol always good when u get told by the guy your buying them off. hey mate we just found someone that might wont the other geckos off you so we may just buy the lot off you :) so just waiting for confirmation from this other guy then we will make the payment :).

24x18x18 exo will be perfect for the Marbled Velvet Gecko for when it gets bigger.

I heat them using either globes or heat mats, both will suffice. No need for UV lighting for them mate.
 
They like it rather warm. You can give them a rather toasty hot spot of ~32oC with a gradual decrease to the cool end of the enclosure.
 
Yes, however, they love to climb so if you are able to position the heat mat on the side of the tank so it heats the wall of the enclosure, that would be preferred. Then, put layers of bark or well positioned flat rocks etc vertically parallel to the heat mat so the gecko can sit between the heated wall and the vertical refuges.
