Thanks guys and girls, those pics are of his second mouse for that sitting which was even more surprising. I found a garden skink that had already lost its tail, and it expelled a clear fluid from the base of its tail (or what was left of it) I smeared that over the nose of the defrosted pinky and bingo.

What would it eat usually?

They are a specialist skink eater, when Rick Shine did his dissections of museum specimens nothing but skinks were found inside, not even a gecko was present.

Congrats Jp2 on getting your little whippy to take the pinkies :D heres hopeing that he likes em

dont wanna rain on the parade coz i think its a awesome effort to get this thing eating mice if its diet was previously skinks, but i do have a question. could this harm the snake ? i mean like jp2, you said its a specialist skink eater, and as such it would have evolved to eat skiinks and this would include its digestive system im guessing ?? im no expert im just curious is all....

good effort thou!

Thats a good point, but many other general non-rodent feeders that are converted such as GTS go well on a rodent diet. Only time will tell.

fair enough, well i hope it all works out for you and the little guy.

That's a great effort JP2. How many times had you tried this before you cracked it? Do you have a pair, as it would be great if you could breed this interesting species? cheers mate, Rex

hehe awesome stuff mate.

if u can get unfeeding tigers to eat pinkies (using fish scent) i dont see why u cant get whips to take em if u scent with skinks!

are they poisonous how mush are they going for ? could i keep one on an advanced license?

They are mildly venomous, they can be kept on the advanced license but are rare as hens teeth in collections, but if you hear of any please let me know.:D

First time which was a surprise, I have thrown in a live unscented pinky once before but nothing on that one.
