Hello shnimpon,
I'm really so sorry that you wish to keep an Uromastyx but couldn't get one.
There exists only one name in English: Uromastyx Lizard or Uromastyx Agama.
They live in Morocco and in Algeria. Their colours vary from green, yellow, orange
and red. I have 3 of them, two have that yellow-green colour and one is red.
Unfortunately they bite the red one very seriously and I really was afraid that he
would die. But now he is back in life and very healthy.
They cost about 300 Australian Dollars each.
The Uromastyx have a nice temper and you can compare them to beardies.
Their diet mainly comprises from soilage and seeds.
It's crazy you want some animals from overseas and the people in Europe would
love to have several animals from Australia.
Egernia, shinglebacks, Tiliqua multifasciata, Tiliqua occipitalis, BHP, and of course
your amazing looking geckos and frogs!!!
shnimpon, open your eyes and look what you've got here in Australia for beautiful and
stunning herps. Don't be so sad. All the non-Australian people would love to own some
herps you can get here. A pair of shinglebacks cost here about 5.000 Australian Dollars
and a baby Varanus spenceri is about 12.900 Australian Dollars!!!!!
There are so many Australian geckos which I can't get here. But I guess it's good to have
some dreams, isn't it?
I add you all my pics what I've at the moment from my Uromastyx.
Some of them don't have the best quality but I hope it doesn't matter.
The bright white splotches in the face only appear because of the flashlight and have normally
the same colour as the rest of the face.
A lot of kind greetings from Germany and please don't be so sad.
Lars
